One Patient at a Time

In the West Bank and Gaza, the population depends on the efforts of volunteers to treat medical needs brought on by the constant fighting between Israeli soldiers and militant factions like Hamas and Fatah. Also, these volunteers face the day -to-day medical problems with a health care system structure that is in ruins.

The Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees (a Palestinian medical organization) and Physicians for Human Rights (an Israeli based organization) team up to care for the populations in both urban and rural communities. These doctors, nurses and volunteers do the lion's share of medical work in the West Bank and normally receive little recognition for their efforts.
